Artist: Jean Cocteau Medium: Original Lithograph Poster, 1959 Dimensions: 25.5 x 19.5 in, 64.8 x 49.5 cm Classic Poster Paper - Excellent Condition A This original lithographic poster was created by Jean Cocteau to promote travel to Monaco. After reaching national and international acclaim as a poet, a writer and a painter amongst many talents, the Principality of Monaco approached him to create this promotional poster. A regular member of the avant-garde, he maintained long-term friendships with artists such as Pablo Picasso and spent much of his time in the South of France. With his work as a writer and director of film, Cocteau is widely credited as the father of French New Wave Cinema.
